Hammers respond to Barca striker report

By Hughie Southon

Speculation that the Hammers are moving in on Barca cast off striker Memphis Depay are extremely wide of the mark.

Football Insider – under the pen of Wayne Veysey – are claiming a huge exclusive this morning in breaking the news.

But in reality there has been no bid and the manager is unsure whether he wants the player despite his impressive background.

However, a Hammers source, who rarely gets anything wrong when talking to us, explained that the club does have a lot of bids in for players.

But commenting on the Depay report he said: ” It’s no more than a five per cent bet at the moment anyway. The manager has not made his mind up about the player.”

That rather devalues the Football Insider claim that we have offered a big-money contract to the Dutchman that could see him become our their best-paid player.

Moyes, anyway, is currently looking for a central defender given the injury problems and a left back!

  1. That’s right, we can only work on one transfer at a time

  2. Thanks for cutting through the smoke Hugh , it’s good to know we have several bids in and this is a low baller.
